The conference rooms were the only familiar thing to Laura here. Even though she'd never felt right as president, these conference rooms gave her some sense of home. They reminded her of the ones on Caprica, and even more on Galactica - except the familiar hum of the ship was gone and there was actual sunlight streaming in through the windows, not artifical light. For a brief moment Laura entertained the idea that she might actually be able to get some color to her skin while she was here if she ever found a way outside.
But then again, water stretched in every single possible direction, and whenever she looked down she could see nothing but water - so that was probably out. Oh well. She'd seen balconies earlier she could slip out on. It'd be nice to inhale fresh air again and look at other colors besides what had been dubbed by the fleet as 'battlestar gray'.
She picked one of the rooms at random and entered - all of the walls were glass, providing a beautiful view across the vast expanse of water, yet allowing others to see in to the room and see that she was in there. Not that it bothered her. Laura was merely exploring her new surroundings. While it was certainly nice for a bit of a break, she wasn't comfortable here. She wanted back to her fleet, back home. The fleet was as close enough to home as she was going to get.
Except earth, of course.
She'd heard others talk about the planet. While she had surmised this was not earth, the way others talked about it - it sounded like heaven in a box. The perfect place for her fleet. If only she could figure out the coordinates that would be able to be plugged into a jump drive and then make it back to her fleet to give them said coordinates. Laura would be immensely pleased if it cut the whole dying leader prophecy out of the picture. But, she wasn't dying anymore - her cancer had gone into remission. Hopefully it stayed that way.
She adjusted the jacket of her suit (her wardrobe had now gone from a limited three suits to one; just perfect) and settled into one of the chairs that lined the long conference table. She swiveled so that she was facing the windows, simply staring out at the blue, especially where the light blue of the sky met the dark blue of the ocean - the horizon. The blending of the colors at that point reminded her of a particular set of eyes behind a set of wire glasses that had been blazing at her when she had been sucked to here.
With a dejected sigh, she rested her elbow on the table and her head in her hand. "Oh, Laura. what have you gotten yourself into this time?"
