Rose didn't like it here. She hated it. Yet, it was understandable. She didn't belong here, but here she was. Simply put, she was stuck. She still could not understand on how exactly she arrived to Erimos, or what most of the people referred it to as 'the city'. It had something to do with a portal. A portal that brought people here from different universes. The problem was that the damned thing brought them here. However, it apparently could not send them back. Rose had spent a lot of time attempting to find The Meta-Crisis Doctor, but she failed to find him. She had spoken to someone that had worked there, a part of the science facility, who stated that he could very well still be in the other universe. Rose fought with him, and now she was stuck in the city for god knows how long with no way to get back to him.
They had stated that everyone must have a job of some sort of another. It was the way of the city. Even though she simply didn't want to, it was something required, and they had placed her into science training. She guessed it was because of her knowledge and background with Torchwood back in Pete's world. Her actual training didn't start until the next day, which left Rose wandering about the place trying to get a feel for it. Trying would be the key word. She could never think of this as home. The fact that she was here alone with no one that she knew made it even worse.
Pulling her sweater around her slightly, Rose lightly made her way through the hallways of one of the towers. It was mostly filled with rooms for people to stay in, but there were other things as well. It seemed to be more for recreation than anything else, with televisions and things for simulations. Rose wasn't intent on feeling comfortable, and she sure didn't want to know what the simulation rooms were for. A slight growl from her stomach indicated on where exactly she should head. Thus, with a small sigh, Rose made her way to the cafeteria.
It wasn't the type of cafeteria one would expect. Usually when a person thinks of a cafeteria, they remember the one from their high school. The plastic tables with the benches attached usually filled the area. In the far off corner, there was a line set up with what people assumed to be food. Usually some sort of gunk that was questionable to eat. This cafeteria was a different completely. Frankly, she was confused on the whole matter. It was some sort of food synthesizer, something she really never came across from. In essence, she really didn't know how to use it.
Technically, Rose could of asked for help. After all there were some people in the cafeteria with her. However, most people were sitting at the tables, eating their food in quiet. She simply didn't want to barge in on them, and she didn't want to talk to them either. With a frustrated sigh, she turned to take a seat at an empty table. “So much for food..” She mumbled, before her eyes looked around in pure and simple boredom, ignoring the growls from her stomach.

The morning had been spent with the Doctor just talking and spending time together. It felt good to have someone here that he knew even it was an earlier body of the Doctor. Over all, it was just good to be in the Doctor’s life again. Sure he had Torchwood, Ianto… Gwen but the Doctor was something else. It was hard to put into words how different and wonderful things were when they were shared in the company of the Time Lord.
After a while, the Doctor excused himself and Jack didn’t bother to ask if he wanted company or what he was up to. Everyone needed space; it was something he learned long ago. This gave Jack the chance to slip away to his assigned quarters and he laid down for a while. Still unable to sleep after trying for a while so he just laid there wondering about thing before finally not able to stay still for any longer. He left his coat in his room before heading out again.
The next few hours was spent roaming around, some time spent in the gym working out before he found himself in the cafeteria, thinking he would get something to drink. The machines…. Synthesizers seemed rather good at creating their wants but he was craving a home cooked meal… Ianto done that for him a few times, not only could Ianto make a mean cup of coffee but his cooking was to die for. He wasn’t paying attention to the people in the room because most of them hated and didn’t trust him so they were better left alone.
Jack got himself a cup of coffee and finally took a look across the room. When his eyes stumbled across a blonde women sitting alone, he couldn’t believe it. And was thankful he didn’t have a mouthful of coffee because it would have ended up being spit out. It had been a long while since he had seen Rose. He had seen her grow up before his eyes when he had spent all those years waiting for the Doctor to show up… It was the last time he seen her but the last time he had spent time with her was when they were traveling with the Doctor. The space station… where he truly died and was left by the Doctor… A sigh was given at those thoughts before he had the machine whip up on some fish and chips, British style before walking up behind Rose.
The try of fish and chips was slide in front of her from behind. Nothing was said because for once Jack was not sure what to say. It had been so long for him since he last talked to Rose..

Her eyes went towards the people that were sitting in the cafeteria. She could essentially put each individual into two categories. There was the group of people that had accepted their fate of being stuck in Erimos. They had formed friends and relationships. Some of them even looked remotely happy. There was a group to the far side of her of about six people, mostly girls. They were having some sort of intense conversation which erupted into laughter. They did look like they were having a good time. Then there were others that were just like her. Each had grabbed their own table. Some had food, some didn't. They were kind of staring off into space. There was a single girl in the corner who had her head down and was weeping. They were not adjusting to the change, and neither was she.
However, Rose needed to be strong. She had to if she wanted to get out of this place and get back home to the Meta-Crisis doctor. It was obvious that she couldn't just barge into some place and figure out how to get back to her own universe. No, it was going to take time and a lot of planning. Something she was never really good at. That wouldn't stop her though. Rose Tyler was going to get home no matter what. She just needed a sign.
She had been sitting there deep in thought with any sort of lead on how to begin to fathom on how to get home. Her eyes were staring forward, and she really wasn't paying attention to her surroundings. Hell, someone could of snuck up behind her and she wouldn't of noticed at all. However, the smell of the fish and chips kind of snapped her out of it. Rose's nose slightly twitched to the smell as she drew in a small sigh and muttering to herself. “Lovely, now I'm also imagining fish and chips. I must be going completely mental..”
That was until a tray of the food she had been smelling was slid right in front of her. Rose stared at it slightly in disbelief, her stomach growling at the scent. However, the food was going to have to wait. She wanted to know who knew that she was hungry. More importantly, she wanted to know who knew what her favorite type of food was. Rose stood up slowly, as her body turned to reveal the man standing behind her. The man who she brought back to life. The man who had saved her from falling to her death during World War I. Captain Jack Harkness.
Her arms immediately went around him into a hug, not really know how to start, her eyes feeling pin pricks in them. ”Jack! But the Daleks..” She said confused at the moment, letting go to search his eyes. ”You stopped them and died... I brought you back, and now here you are! You don't know how much I needed to see a familiar face. But stuck here by myself..” She trailed off to hug him again. So she wasn't alone after all. Rose had finally found a friend.

When it came to the people here, there was only two that Jack found himself trusting at the moment. One by the name of John Watson and then of course the Doctor even though it was his 8th incarnation of him and not the Doctors he had come to know. Though there was time for knowing Eight here and now because he had no idea how he was going to get back or when that was going to happen, though it wasn’t something he was trying to think about for the moment or the fact that two females among the crowd of people in this place wanted him dead. Jack wasn’t even sure if they were in the mess hall.
Whether or not he was happy to be here wasn’t something he wanted to talk or think about either. For the most part he was still rather pissed off at this whole thing but was learning to deal with it. Though it all got better when he had seen his favorite blonde in here with him too. Nothing ever happened between him and Rose after all Jack knew how much the Doctor meant to Rose and the Doctor to Rose… It wasn’t a line he would cross. However, Jack was clueless to know how far that has grown nor how much the other cared for each other. Normally that wouldn’t be the kind of thing to stop Jack from acting out on his urges and desires but when it came to the Doctor, he found himself wanting to be a better man. There was just something about the Doctor.
When the words were mutter about how Rose was imagining fish and chips, Jack help back from saying anything smart not wanting to ruin the surprise. Rose was someone he thought he would never see again, not after the Doctor explained how she was in another time line but at least she was alive. He could remember how bad it felt when he got word that she was one of those lost in the battle with the Cybermen and Dalaks..,. But here she was, right in front of him and all he wanted to do was hug her tightly. However, he would wait for that wanting her to see him first, to see the surprise in her eyes.
The smile slowly grew across his lips as he watched her turn around and takes notice of him. Then the arms were around his neck and he could not hold back any longer. Jack wrapped his arms around her, hugging her tightly as he spun them around. ”Daleks are full of hot air.” He joked still with a huge smile as he sat Rose back down. Sure he was scared of Daleks… well not scare of them but what they could do to those he cared about, to those he wanted to keep safe. ”The Doctor explained it all to me. Must say, his new looks are rather dashing. Though I must say, his eight body is rather cute too.” He stopped when he noticed he was rambling on. He gave her another hug to return the one she gave him again.
”Sit down and eat. Plenty of time to catch up.” Jack motioned to the food on the table. At least that made another person in here he could trust and another one he knew.
